Can we stay in the house while you work?
Usually, yes, and most of our remodel clients do. It depends which room is coming apart: losing the only bathroom is a different proposition to losing the basement. We will tell you honestly what will be unusable and for roughly what part of the job, so you can plan around it rather than find out midway.
Do you handle the permits?
We take care of the permitting a project needs as part of running the job. Additions and anything structural generally need it; smaller cosmetic work often does not. We will tell you which yours is before we start.
Is an addition cheaper than moving?
That depends entirely on your house, your lot and the market, so anyone who answers it without seeing the property is guessing. What we can tell you is what the addition itself would involve and what it would cost, which is the half of the comparison you cannot get from a listing.
Do you do kitchens and bathrooms, or only whole-house work?
Both. A single bathroom refit is a normal job for us, and so is a full addition. If yours is a small piece of work, say so when you call and we will tell you straight whether we are the right people for it.
How does an addition get tied into the existing house?
That join is the part worth getting right. Foundation, framing, roofline, siding and flashing all have to meet the original structure and shed water properly. We do that work ourselves rather than subbing out the exterior, which is why our additions read as part of the house instead of something attached to it.
